Ohio Department of Natural Resources

The Parks and Watercraft Division of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was looking to consolidate their department into Building A on their Fountain Square campus in Columbus, Ohio. Working closely with the ODNR team, SHYFT undertook the task of developing an open floor concept as requested, ensuring the accommodation of the needs of the various departments within the Parks and Watercraft Division. The program was crafted in collaboration with the team, prioritizing department adjacencies and opportunities for growth. Throughout the project, careful consideration was given to align with the allocated budget, resulting in strategic decisions to reuse existing rooms, finishes, and equipment while upholding the design’s integrity. By removing existing offices at the perimeter of the floor plates, the space was flooded with natural light, and new offices and conference rooms were incorporated based on the departments' specific requirements.
