Community Connection: Chix with Stix

Chix with Stix is a "Fun-Raising" Golf Outing for the Columbus Architectural and Design Community.

What is Chix with Stix?

Chix with Stix is a benefit for The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center –Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. All of the women in the Columbus area design community are invited to attend this special event.

Q: Why is this organization important to the community?

Each year all of the sponsorship dollars, in addition to the cost of the outing, go directly to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, funding this amazing work right here in Columbus. Since the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the OSUCCC – James was founded in 1998, more than $23 million has been raised by thousands of individuals, companies and charitable foundations. Investments made by the fund have enabled research of the emerging role of microRNAs in drug-resistant breast cancer; the study of novel therapeutic agents that selectively target metabolic and survival machineries in breast cancer cells; creation of a designated fellowship in breast cancer research and more. In celebrating 23 years, Chix with Stix donations towards this fund have totaled over $500,000!!

Q: How has SHYFT become involved in Chix with Stix?

As active members in the Columbus Architectural and Design community, SHYFT continues to participate in this event every year. We have sponsored teams, sent golfers, and our very own project manager, Caitlin Heldman, is a member of the planning committee for the 2021 event.
