A Look Back: 20 Years of Our Brand

In honor of our 20th anniversary this year, we thought we'd take a moment to reflect back on how our business and brand has evolved over the last two decades. Did you know we started as Bluestone Project Solutions?! We're always looking to improve our services and processes in order to provide A Better Way to A Better Space for clients.


2004

Bluestone Project Solutions

Inspiring Real Estate Change

Primarily an owner’s representative and project management services firm, Bluestone Project Solutions (BPS) grew out of Bluestone Engineering’s brand. As sister companies, the connection to the name was important in instilling confidence in our overlapping customers. Once the two companies separated, the BPS interlocking B logo was developed to showcase the strong connection and collaboration with our clients.


2016 SHYFT COLLECTIVE

Adapt. Adjust. Grow. SHYFT.

A decade in, we were moving in a direction to expand our services, and BPS no longer spoke to our aspirations. We wanted a brand that spoke more to all aspects of space changes that our customers were experiencing.


"SHYFT" speaks to the change that companies see in their businesses overall, and specifically with space. Collective showcases the collaborative nature of our company. We bring a wide variety of expertise and background that each team member brings to our projects. The chevron echoes an arrow that indicates forward motion in clients’ businesses, changes in space, and our lifelong learning. It also became our icon, to be identifiable as our brand without the full wordmark. Blue is a strong, stable color, so it was important for this thread to continue through our band development. In this version, the blue was updated to be brighter, fresher, and forward-looking.


2019

SHYFT Collective

By 2019, we felt it necessary to focus on our own change. We needed to reflect the same consistency and attention to detail that we provide to our clients.


While the name is the same and the visual identity is similar to the previous iteration, we developed rules to ensure consistency. While the overall wordmark feels softer, by changing to horizontal cuts on the S, centering crossbars on the H and F, and ensuring the weight of the letters is consistent, the overall result is stronger. More white space is incorporated to establish a more vibrant and modern feel.


2022

SHYFT Plan | Design | Build

A Better Way to a Better Space

Within a few years, our design and architecture services were expanding, we had started providing construction services, and were still providing owner’s representative/project management services. “Collective” as a first touchpoint with future customers no longer provided clarity about our services.


The SHYFT Plan, Design, Build logo reflects the strength of our company while clearly showcasing our breadth of services. The brand is clean and modern, ready to grow with us.
