Miami University was in need of additional meeting space for their campus administrative leadership team in Roudebush Hall. They wanted to repurpose an oversized reception and waiting area to meet this need, while also establishing a new interior finish palette that could eventually be used to refresh the existing building during future renovations. SHYFT created an optimized plan, providing a more compact and efficient reception desk, small waiting area, and an eight person modern conference room. The design and interior palette was complimentary to the existing second floor of Roudebush so they could coexist for now, but at the same time created a fresh and appealing aesthetic for this highly traveled and visible interior node of the building. Additionally, key interior doors of the second floor were planned & prepped for future security upgrades, providing pathways to panic buttons at the reception desk and the door to each office wing. When the security upgrades are complete, this will allow building staff to quickly secure all wings by pushing any of the panic buttons.
