Miami University wanted to create a centralized E-Learning Department for the Hamilton Regional Campus. The department was previously spread across different areas of Mosler Hall and across different campuses.  The goals of the department were to raise the profile of the regional campus, recruit new online students, build community and morale, increase retention and facilitate growth of the department. SHYFT worked through multiple options and phases with members of the current staff to come to a solution that would support these goals. With careful consideration to budget, the team was able to satisfy the needs of what would have been a two phase project into one department renovation project.  With this, we were able to accomplish all the goals the department had established at the start of the project. The department uses this space for the development of online courses so having one centralized location on the Hamilton Campus for staff and students has allowed them to operate as one cohesive department. The entry to the space includes a glass wall along the main building corridor that allows visibility of the department to the rest of the campus. Construction was completed in a condensed three-month timeframe in order to be complete by the start of the 2019 fall semester.
