Meet Hailey Kellis

Hailey Kellis, NCIDQ - Project Designer

Hailey heard about SHYFT through a past co-worker. At the time, she was working for another architectural firm & decided she was ready for a change of pace. It happened to be the perfect timing for SHYFT to take-on new team members. She met with founding partner, Zane Muntz, & he presented an opportunity to her that she could not pass up. She has now been with the us just over a year and she wouldn’t have it any other way! We took a minute to chat with Hailey about her time at SHYFT.

Q: How is SHYFT different from other real estate/design firms that you have seen worked for?

A: SHYFT is unique from other design firms in that we offer more than just your typical design services. Here, we provide a full integrated project delivery prospective including real estate, design, construction and project management services. You really get the WHOLE package if you decide to work with us here at SHYFT. It is our priority to help people and organizations navigate real estate change with confidence by providing a better way to a better space.

Q: What are some projects you are currently working on?

A: When I first came onboard with SHYFT, I was able to work on the F&G relocation project to 801 Grand. This took up most of my time as I was a part of the project from start to finish. I also worked on the Central Bank renovation on 86th street in Urbandale, along with many others. Over the past several months, I’ve been working on the first Smash Park franchise project in Pella, IA. As we wrap-up the construction drawing set, we will soon begin on the next location! These projects are so exciting and I am grateful to be a part of them.

Q: What is the one thing you are most proud of since joining SHYFT?

A: I am most proud of the growth and confidence I have gained since becoming a part of the SHYFT team. From day one, I dove in very quickly and I remember being slightly overwhelmed. But the team at SHYFT is so organized and helpful that it truly was a smooth transition for me. It really only took me a few days before I felt comfortable with everyone & I am SO happy I took that leap of faith in joining the design team. Time sure flies by when you’re having fun! I love the projects I’ve been a part of and I also enjoy all of my coworkers. I’ve gained so much knowledge and expertise just in the last year of being at SHYFT and I can’t wait to see where I end up in the years to come.

Q: What are a few of your career highlights?

A: I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work on the first Smash Park location in West Des Moines, IA. Little did I know that it would soon become a full circle and I’d be one of the main project designers on the franchise locations as well! I’ve worked on several projects over the years, from multi-family projects, senior living/retirement communities, office/corporate projects, etc. But the Smash Park projects have by far been my favorite to be a part of! It is such a unique and playful space and the owners are so much fun to work with! They are definitely some of my favorite clients.

Another career milestone is that I had a goal to become NCIDQ certified within the first few years of beginning my career. I set this goal and worked HARD to get to where I am at today. I can proudly say that I have officially earned my NCIDQ certificate as of the fall of 2020. Yes, 2020! The year of all the chaos, but I did not let that stop me!

Q: Any fun facts you'd like to share?

A: I am a newlywed as of May 1, 2021! I have three fur babies at home, a Frenchie (Remi), Pitbull (Rogue) and a white German shepherd (Storm). If I am not working, walking the dogs or hanging out with my hubby/family/friends, you can find me at my favorite gym – CrossFit 8035! I’ve been doing CrossFit since 2014 and LOVE the challenge it brings me each day I’m able to get in and throw around some heavy weight! 😊

Thanks Hailey for all you do for the SHYFT Team!
