Our team of architects, interior designers, construction managers, financial analysts, and project managers/owners’ representatives provide an unbiased and well-rounded perspective that allows our team to create custom solutions for our clients.


SHYFT is searching for a Senior Construction Manager with 10+ years of experience to join the construction team in our Des Moines, Iowa office.


This role will focus on expanding our market presence with construction delivery for our development projects and third-party clients, with an emphasis on design-build opportunities. Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Design, preconstruction, and construction management on construction project initiatives, including managing both internal and external design and construction team members.

  • Responsible for general project oversight including scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, communications, procurement, team building, and risk management. This includes assistance in the development of best practices for each of these initiatives.

  • Serve as the lead construction manager on one or more projects.

  • Communication responsibilities include documentation of project decisions and correspondence, conducting project meetings, and preparation of project status reports.

  • Oversee activities of vendors, subcontractors, and design professionals as required.

  • Maintain accurate and consistent electronic files and project documentation, including establishing best practices and process improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and perform internal controls for the team assigned to a project.

  • Prepare, develop, and solicit bid packages.

  • Prepare contract documents for clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Responsible for construction budget management throughout the life of the project, from preconstruction through closeout. This includes accurate and timely management of buyout and change log management.

  • Responsible for ensuring formal project close-out documentation is complete.

  • Provide oversight and monitoring to less experienced team members.

  • Engage in company business development initiatives in central Iowa and other potential additional new markets.
