Within the framework of SHYFT’s core values and strategic business plan, the Director of Construction - Ohio will lead construction services for our Ohio Market. This includes oversight and leadership for multiple project teams for the successful execution of projects measured by client satisfaction, schedule, profit, quality, risk management, and safety performance. The Director of Construction - Ohio will oversee and lead preconstruction activities as well as business development initiatives.
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee preconstruction services and provide leadership in planning, design, and cost analysis
Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase, ensuring seamless transitions to construction execution
Prepare, develop, and solicit bid packages
Prepare AIA contract documentation for execution
Identify and mitigate preconstruction risks while fostering innovative solutions to enhance project value
Represent the Company in external networking, industry events, and client presentations to promote the brand and its capabilities
Engage in company business development initiatives in Central Ohio and in additional new markets
Develop market strategies to identify growth opportunities and expand SHYFT’s footprint in Ohio
Responsible for general project oversight including scope, schedule, budget, quality, communications, procurements, team building, and risk
Review Construction Progress Reports that are delivered to clients
Visit and monitor progress on project job sites no less than biweekly
Develop and perform internal controls for team assigned to a project
Communication responsibilities including documentation of project decisions and correspondence and conducting project meetings
Provide oversight, mentorship, and monitoring to less experienced team members
Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded and resolve conflicts
Identify new methodologies, technologies, and trends in the construction industry
Perform additional assignments as requested by Department Head

Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
10+ years in Construction Management or related fields
Must have the ability to read, analyze, edit, and interpret information so that it is presented to clients and other stakeholders in a professional and partnership-mindset manner
Must have the ability to write grammatically correct correspondence and reports
Must have good listening skills and excellent communication skills
Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, executive leadership, consultants, and the public
Must be able to use a personal computer and be proficient with MS Office based applications such as Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, as well as other various project management and construction financial accounting software
Must have valid driver's license and a good driving record
