SHYFT is searching for a qualified Construction Project Coordinator to provide support to our Construction Managers in our Des Moines, Iowa office. This position will be responsible for project administration, project accounting, and document management on assigned projects. This role will maintain open communication between office and field personnel to ensure all project tasks get accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Oversight and coordination of various real estate projects.

  • Develop and track scope, budget, and schedule for assigned projects.

  • Write and maintain subcontracts and purchase orders.

  • Write and process change orders, and maintain change order logs.

  • Monthly billing and financial analysis.

  • Organize job files (both digital and printed).

  • Communication responsibilities include documentation of project decisions and correspondence, conducting project meetings, distribution of minutes, and preparation of project status reports.

  • Participate in biweekly production meetings.

  • Create OAC agendas and facilitate meetings.

  • Organize job startup for field staff.

  • Maintain and document customer selections.

  • Participate in the bid process for pre-construction.

  • Maintain safety programs and safety/first aid items.

  • Move management activities/services, including technical and physical functions.

  • Project information management, leveraging client project management software and internal documentation databases.

  • Issue and evaluate vendor, contractor, consultant, and supplier RFPs.

  • Oversee vendor, contractor, consultant, and supplier RFPs and responses.

  • Coordination of formal project close-out activities.

  • Demonstrate a proactive focus on effectively meeting client expectations and project requirements.

  • Coordination of property management activities.

  • Support SHYFT project managers, project executives, construction managers, and designers.

  • Additional duties as assigned.


Salary: 

$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year, based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, interior design, construction management, real estate finance, or another related field required.

  • 1-3 years or more of demonstrated experience in markets related to design, construction management, and real estate preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create, analyze, and interpret interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from clients or members of the business community.

  • Ability to effectively present information to clients and internal staff.

  • Ability to support organizational growth by providing strategic client direction, building new relationships, and maintaining existing client relationships, as well as ensuring that client projects are implemented according to plan.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to prepare and track project budgets.

  • Possess an understanding of the requirements for business relocations.

  • Familiarity with architectural drawings, furniture plans, and space-planning concepts.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong communication and analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with all project stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in working in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the SHYFT mission.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Advanced skills with creative or construction-related software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, Microsoft Project, Autodesk AutoCAD/Revit, and Bluebeam are preferred.

  • Although a project coordinator typically works in an office setting, travel may be required to meet with clients, provide project oversite, visit suppliers and vendors, and attend industry conferences.
