SHYFT is seeking a full-time Architectural Staff or Designer for our Des Moines, IA office to support our architecture and interior design efforts. We are searching for a licensed architect or architectural associate candidate with 1-5 years of experience. The role will require multiple skills and will be involved in our full suite of Plan | Design | Build services. Candidates for this position will work with a team of talented professionals to create thoughtful, well-crafted design solutions from inception to execution and every step in between. 


This position is intended to help our Plan | Design | Build model through developing, designing, and delivering beautifully crafted architectural solutions. Team members are expected to elevate the SHYFT design brand, dialogue, process, and projects within our unique model. Projects include high-end and affordable multifamily housing, hospitality, higher education, corporate workplace, healthcare, government and municipal, and mixed-use commercial.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Elevating the design brand and marketing it throughout Iowa while assisting national markets and projects

  • Providing architectural consultation in strategic planning, programming, design, and construction

  • Coordinating with colleagues, clients, and sub-consultants for quality assurance and quality control

  • Preparation of design documents including 3D models [Sketchup, REVIT, Enscape, etc.]

  • Demonstrating proactive client interaction and service in a timely and efficient manner

  • Responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing architectural design assignments and documents

  • Communication responsibilities including documentation of project decisions and correspondence, conducting project meetings, distribution of minutes, and project status reports

  • Working with the full team to create simple, refined, and beautifully crafted design and built solutions with every opportunity

  • Other duties as assigned

Our targeted start date is flexible and starting salaries will be based on experience and skill.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience

  • Proficiency in REVIT software for preparation of design documents.

  • Proficiency in other graphical representation software programs (Enscape, Adobe Suite, etc.)

  • Responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing architectural design assignments and documents

  • Effective communication skills – verbal, written and graphic

  • Strong conceptualization and ideation skills

  • Working both independently and collaboratively with our team to create simple, refined, and beautifully crafted design solutions with every opportunity

  • An eagerness to learn, always curiouserience
