SHYFT Collective is searching for Architectural or Interior Design Interns to assist in our quest for design excellence in both our Des Moines, IA, and Columbus, OH offices. The designer will work closely with our team of talented architects and interior designers. In addition to traditional design experience, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence our services to best showcase our preferred project delivery method. This role has the potential for full-time and future employment after the internship experience. Our preferred candidate will possess strong design skills, advanced technical abilities, diverse interests, innovative conceptual & critical thinking, and an interest in our work at SHYFT Collective. Some of our projects include custom modern single-family residential, multifamily housing, hospitality, higher education, corporate workplace, healthcare, government & municipal, and mixed-use commercial.
This position allows for exceptional career advancement for those interested in growing beyond traditional architectural practice. The role will include (but not be limited to):
Collaborate with a team on an array of tasks, on various project types.
Provide design support with all phases: planning, programming, design, delivery, and construction administration.
Preparing scaled drawings and contract documents in Revit.
Researching and identifying products (finishes, fixtures, etc.).
Assisting in the preparation of meeting notes, studies, and reports.
Planning diagrams/layouts during schematic design, demonstrating the ability to arrange a unified design.
Join team members for on-site observation of work during the C.A. phase to monitor compliance with plans.
Strong design skills, advanced technical abilities, and innovative conceptual & critical thinking.
Good knowledge and experience with Revit. Enscape knowledge preferred, but not required.
Good knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (Adobe Suite).
A GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
